JUVEL

BESPOKE - custom decanters and wooden boxes

Glassblowing/CNC mill/handwork

Crystal glass/solid cask oak/leather and brass

The Juvel project started in 2018 when Arcus set out to make a blend of their oldest and most treasured Opland aquavits stored in their Paradise Cellar, the oldest dating back as far as 1929. To reflect both the Norwegian and Opland identity we decided to let the history of the aged spirits and the quality of the materials and craft used to make them take the lead role.

The oak casks are the inspiration for both the decanter shape and Opland Juvel's label, which symbolises the iron hoops used to hold a cask's staves in place. The decanters are mouth blown crystal glass made at Magnor Glassverk. Each numbered bottle comes in a solid wooden box, precision cut from the staves once used to age Opland aquavit.

Opland Juvel (Jewel) is made, aged, blended, designed, cut and mouth blown in Norway. Opland Juvel was launched in November 2020 after 2 years in the making. Priced at approx. 1400€ per carafe, Opland Juvel is officially the most expensive aquavit in the world. Yet Opland immediately sold out of all 19 carafes allocated to Norway. At present, it's reserving the rest for the international market.

Opland is an award-winning Norwegian producer of best-selling aquavits with over 150 years of dedicated craftsmanship. Like Cognac, Scotch Whiskey and Champagne, all Opland aquavits have an internationally recognised Geographical Indication (GI). For aquavit to be called Norwegian, it must be made from Norwegian potato spirit, distilled caraway or dill seeds, and be cask-matured for at least six months. Arcus is a leading Nordic branded consumer goods company within wine and spirits. Arcus is the world’s largest producer of aquavit, and holds strong market positions for wine and spirits across the Nordics.
