TACTILE OBJECTS CREATED THROUGH CRAFT AND DESIGN

Located in Oslo since 2011, Sverre Uhnger specialises in furniture and product design. He focuses on creating products that feel natural to the user and where the inherent qualities of the materials and the production techniques is emphasised. Uhnger is a trained craftsman and educated designer from both Bergen National Academy of Art and Design (NO) and Aalto University (FI). 

The studio does consultant work for both private and commercial clients. Being one of the founding members of Klubben Uhnger works actively with exhibitions, curating and consulting in Norway and internationally. He has participated in exhibitions in Stockholm, Tokyo, Paris, New York and Milano among others. Uhnger has designed products for manufacturers in Norway, Sweden, Denmark, Italy and USA and won several design awards. Uhnger collaborates on many projects with designer Thomas Jenkins (UK) as Jenkins&Uhnger and in the design agency Omhu.

Over the last few years the studio has started to produce one-off’s and small batches of work that wander in between design and craft. Working mainly in wood, Uhnger has experimented in the junction between traditional crafts and digital techniques used in manufacturing. This work focuses on, and challenges, the collective and individual perception of handcraft.
