NEER

CRAFT - varying format

CNC laser/handwork

Medium Density Fibreboard treated with oil

Intarsia is an exclusive technique that has been used for thousands of years to decorate surfaces and utilise rare wood. Today veneer is used to cover the whole surface of boards to create affordable cabinets and tabletops. These techniques are interpreted by completely removing the veneer in preference of engraving a wooden structure directly on the canvas of fibreboard. Made with a CNC laser engraving digital pine wood images in varying scales.

Originally developed for the Klubben exhibition On Time in Oslo and Paris 2013 the concept was applied to a low table and a cabinet. These prototypes were later sold through Blomqvist’s Unika auction during Designers Saturday in 2017/2019.

Since then the concept has been applied to other formats and in 2020 a series consisting of 3 pieces with varying compositions will be part of Sverre Uhnger’s exhibition Revisit at Galleri Format Oslo 16 January - 8 March.
